Milwaukee Racine & Troy 40-foot Wood Refrigerator Car Kit - Limited Edition

A 40-foot wood-side refrigerator car makes its debut in our Milwaukee, Racine & Troy family of products. The HO scale kit (era: Nov. 1940+) is painted yellow and brown.  

The kit, produced in the United States of America by Accurail Inc., uses the company’s 4800-series tooling and features a one-piece body with applique sides, factory-installed hatch covers and running board casting, and a vertical brake staff consisting of a plastic wheel and brass staff. 

The plastic underbody has molded cross members, body bolsters, bolster blocks, and draft-gear boxes. The fish-belly center sills, draft-gear box covers, air reservoir, brake cylinder, and control valve are all modeler-installed items. An unpainted steel weight, which can be attached with silicone adhesive, cyanoacrylate adhesive, or double-sided tape, is also included. 

Rounding out the kit are a pair of solid-bearing trucks with 33” Delrin wheelsets, two-piece Accumate plastic knuckle couplers with metal trip pins, and four 2-56 x 3/16” pan head machine screws (two each for the trucks and draft-gear box covers). Written, illustrated instructions are also supplied.
