World War II raged, but Model Railroader and the hobby continued. On the July 1943 cover, a sailor examines a model train loaded with vehicles for battle. MR reminded readers — as did advertisers inside the magazine - that the war couldn't be won without them, as they could do their part by buying War Bonds. This was the most colorful cover in the first decade of Model Railroader, as it was rare to see an image in anything other than black and white.
