Trains Magazine 1000th Issue HO Boxcar

In February 2024 Trains magazine will publish its 1,000th issue. To celebrate this significant milestone, the Kalmbach Hobby Store commissioned Kadee Quality Products Co. to produce this limited-edition HO scale Pullman-Standard 40-foot PS-1 boxcar.  Proudly display this collectible commemorative model in your home or add it to your layout.

The ready-to-run model, produced in the United States of America, has the reporting marks of the Milwaukee, Racine & Troy, Kalmbach Media’s HO scale employee layout. Features on the injection-molded plastic body include positionable 6-foot doors; separate, factory-applied ladders and grab irons; a see-through brakewheel platform and running board; and a brake wheel, brakewheel housing, and retainer valve. 

The model has a die-cast metal underbody with floor board and stringer detail. The Kadee scale couplers are body mounted in plastic draft-gear boxes. The center sills, cross bearers, and cross members are a single plastic casting. The detailed brake system includes an air reservoir, brake cylinder, and control valve; related pipes, levers, and support brackets; and air hoses. The stirrup steps are freestanding plastic parts. 

The boxcar has two-piece, fully equalized High Gravity Compound trucks with self-centering action. The trucks are fitted with 33” non-magnetic, RP-25 contour smooth-back metal wheels mounted on plastic axles. The model is packed a clear plastic case, great for displaying and safe storage.
