Lucius Beebe was a Renaissance man of the early twentieth century who pursued talents as a railroad historian, photographer, journalist, and food critic. His 1938 publication of High Iron: A Book of Trains, a revolutionary railroad picture book, forever changed the genre. Together with his life partner and fellow photographer Charles Clegg, Beebe produced some of his most significant work which captured a variety of midcentury railroad subjects. The Railroad Photography of Lucius Beebe and Charles Clegg focuses on the fascinating lives of two men who made significant contributions to the world of railroad photography by bringing together some of the most captivating examples of their photographs in one book.
