Description

The Comprehensive Railroad Atlas of North America: Appalachia and Piedmont includes 106 maps covering West Virginia, Kentucky, Virginia, Tennessee and North Carolina.

Designed to provide a single source of reference to the North American rail network, past and present, the SPV atlas shows all currently operated common carriers, tourist and major industrial railroads along with abandoned routes. Clearly printed on glossy art paper with a softcover and stitch bound, it includes detector locations, open/closed stations, tourist railroads, major bridges and tunnels, and many more railroad details. Comprehensive index includes cities, towns, railroad yards, major industries and stations.

This 2nd covers the coal rich region of Appalachia and the coastal plains of the Piedmont. It has been fully revised to show the changes in the rail network since the publication of the first edition in 1997 and to incorporate a number of abandoned lines which have been discovered in the meantime, many through the efforts of Basil Watkins. Drawn at eight miles to one inch, with two miles to one inch for complex/close-up areas, this atlas has the detail you need.
