As railroad enthusiasts, it’s natural to build up a particular penchant for certain locomotives and paint schemes, and with Trains’ new 50-card Legendary Postcard set featuring striking graphics, you can review your favorites anytime you want.
The postcard set celebrates the lively and vibrant schemes of today’s American railroad scene with mostly freight but some passenger locomotives as well. A few selections included in the set are Iowa Interstate’s ES44 six-axle No. 513 adorned in former Rock Island colors of black, red and white; Norfork Southern’s Pennsylvania RR heritage paint scheme of deep maroon with yellow striping as it appears on an ES44; Southern Pacific’s Daylight passenger train colors of red, orange and white shown on a Union Pacific heritage diesel unit; and General Electric’s ES44AC No. 2015, a Tier 4 pollution-control test-bed unit, showing off a colorful deep blue, white and lime-green paint scheme.
Some other railroads represented in the eye-catching postcard set include Monongahela, Reading Lines, Lehigh Valley, Rio Grande, and Electro-Motive’s multi-colored SD70AH-T4 test unit No. 1501. On the passenger locomotive side are Amtrak’s P42s decorated for a Disney Christmas movie, Chicago's Metra commuter railroad and an MP36PH-3S in Milwaukee Road colors, and an Amtrak ACS-64 in veteran’s markings.
Each postcard is 4 x 6” and painted on heavy stock for easy handling. I found the postcards to really catch my eye, and found myself going back time and again to review the fascinating paint schemes.
